Hyaluronic Acid for eyes

Posted by Shopify API on

The skin around your eyes is naturally thinner than other parts of the skin on your face. This means that as we age the skin around our eyes can deteriorate quicker than the other parts of our faces. Fine lines and wrinkles are created by the loss of elastin and collagen in the layer under your skin. Therefore it’s very important to protect your skin from losing these key factors. Hyaluronic Acid can help with this as it works to plump the area around your eyes.

Hyaluronic Acid is a glycosaminoglycan, which means that it’s a key part of your skin’s natural youth supporting matrix. It can be found in your body’s tissues but 50% of it can be found in your skin! As a result of it being present within your body the likelihood that people react to it is very slim. Which means that it can be used by anyone, it has even been known to help those with oily complexions.

Those with oily complexions might want to avoid moisturising their skin because they think it might cause more oils. However, it has been discovered that over-drying skin can be a cause of oily skin. As the skin’s natural oils get stripped away, it can attempt to create more which then can lead to overcompensation.

Hyaluronic Acid works differently to other ingredients as it is able to detect where your skin needs hydrate the most and therefore not flood it. As it has been known to have the ability to hold over 1000x it’s weight in water!

"It acts as a moisturiser through its water-attracting properties. This means it draws water into the skin to keep it hydrated, supple and functioning effectively as a barrier," says Dr Bunting. "This will produce a temporary improvement in lines and wrinkles (as all moisturisers do).”

When used on your eyes, Hyaluronic Acid can help to prevent the signs of ageing and dark circles. This is due to the fact that many skincare issues are caused by lack of hydration. The best way to keep prime issues like fine lines and wrinkles at bay it to keep your skin as hydrated as possible. This way your skin doesn’t lose as much of its natural collagen and elastin than before. In addition to protecting the skin around your eyes from the sun either with suncream or large sunglasses, you can help prevent the signs of ageing for as long as possible.
